Are you a diehard coffee drinker? This is the place for you. In real estate, its all about location, location, location. With coffee, its all about flavor, flavor, flavor. Trends in the US start west and move east. David Conboy, owner ofKarma Coffee Roasters, is ahead of the curve on roasting coffee on site for both wholesale and retail distribution. Speciality coffee roasters that roast on site are more prevalent on the west coast while New England seems to have a Dunkin Donuts around every corner. If you're looking for a great cup of coffee, you are missing out by not stopping by Karma Coffee. Look no further.
David walked me through the process of roasting beans- a 13 minute process. Karma Coffee typically carries over 25 varieties of beans if not more on a daily basis. He imports beans from all over the world, at least 30 different countries. Though I won't be able to repeat the art and engineering aspect of the process, I would suggest stopping by so you can watch first hand. To me, the equipment used looked state of the art, and high tech, but David said the process hasn't changed much since the 1800s. The art behind roasting beans reminds me of wine making. Smell, and color can tell David a lot about where the beans are in the process so he can get precisely the right flavor he's looking for from the bean. As David made sure the beans didn't burn, it reminded me of shaking jiffy pop when I was a kid.
Check out David's website for tips and tricks on caring for beans, and how to get the best of your bean flavor at home. David also offers gift baskets, sure to please any coffee drinker.
After watching David at work, the joke of the visit is that I am not a coffee drinker. I did sample two flavors, and have to say, over time, if I keep hosting networking meetings at his shop, I may just convert. Like a fine wine, finding the right flavor combination can be a fun, and an enjoyable process. If you're stuck in a rut, need a pick me up, or you want to try the best cup of coffee, I challenge you to visit David for 1 cup. Like a bag of potato chips, you can't just have one. You'll be back for more cups of coffee. David has a passion for his art. Please tell him Joelle sent you. Enjoy.
