What's the best time to workout? I've heard that question from newbies a dozen of times and that was also one of the questions that I asked more than a decade ago when I was a newbie. Most of us got a very vague answer. Some say that there is no optimal time to workout. Some say that it is different for every other person. Today, let's find an answer to that timeless bodybuilding question.
When you wake up in the morning, try touching your toes with your knees locked out and your legs straight, find out how far you can reach. In the afternoon, try doing this again. I'm 100% sure that you are more flexible in the afternoon. That is because from our activities the whole morning, we have been warmed up and our muscles are more capable to stretch and contract. This means that our muscles perform better in the afternoon. So it is very obvious that the optimal time to workout is in the afternoon. But the most optimal isn't always the best time to workout. Sounds confusing huh? Actually, it's just commonsense. Not all of us like to workout in the afternoon, or have the free time to do so. Most of us are busy in the afternoon because of work. There are some who are early risers and prefer to workout in the morning. This doesn't mean that they aren't achieving their physical fitness goals. They still are.
If you are one of the early risers like me for example, you have to make sure that you warm up with light weights or if you are doing your cardio for that day, make sure to start very slowly and work up the speed gradually to avoid any injuries.
Also, make sure that you workout at a regular and set time every workout session so that you'll make sure that the rest period between each workout is the same and to make sure you will recover properly.
