Commissioning a garden designer to produce a comprehensive garden design can be invaluable when planning to transform your garden. Inspiration for the overall garden design would usually come from making notes on the client's lifestyle and family needs, the space, the location, all combined the garden designer's own professional thoughts on materials and use of plants and space. Two or three concept suggestions would be discussed, explored and prepared on paper prior to the client deciding upon a final garden design. A detailed plan along with 3D perspective drawings and/or visuals would be prepared to enable the garden designer to show and explain special design features and separate areas to the client.
On a purely practical level commissioning a garden design also provides the client with an accurate scale of the garden. Working to a measured scale assists the landscapers when they are putting prices together for the building works. We are happy to work across the whole London and greater London areas and we have also completed garden designs for clients across the UK and internationally. Please note that if we are invited to prepare a garden design out of the London area then we would negotiate travelling costs and, if necessary accommodation.
The typical garden design process begins with initial contact from the client. We would aim to have a comprehensive conversation in order to establish as many of the following points as possible:- location of garden, existing state of garden, ease of access to garden ie through house or open access, clients preferred budget, the clients initial ideas and choices of materials. A site meeting would then be arranged in order to look at the garden and discuss client needs and wants further. Upon agreement of commencement of the project then the client would be invoiced for 50% of the overall fee.
