A patent engineer is a patent law professional involved in understanding of patent law and preparation and prosecution of patent applications. A patent engineer needs to have a bachelor’s degree in science or engineering. Candidates having advanced degree like Ph.D. or M.D. are given preference. After an initial interview with an inventor, the patent engineer interprets and records the scope of a new invention. He confirms that there are no issues with regard to copyright or existing patent noncompliance. He creates all required documents, designs drawings and rechecks to ensure accuracy of patent applications and then he submits for review.
