On April 26th, Jaroslaw Kaczynski whose twin brother was the late Polish President killed in a air crash, announced that he would represent the Law and Justice Party to participate in this year's presidential election in June. In the same day, Jaroslaw released in a statement that he must overcome personal grief to finish his brother's unfinished cause.
At present, Jaroslaw Kaczynski is the incumbent president of Law and Justice Party. He was served as Polish prime minister in July 2006 to November 2007. Jaroslaw Kaczynski and Lech Polish have both been in favor of politics to pursue nationalism and conservative representatives. In 2001, the Kaczynski brothers established the Law and Justice Party and raised the slogan which is "develop economy, combat corruption and improve the people's welfare", claiming to "defend the interests of the poor", so that they got a large number of voters in the lower middle class in Poland.
Polish presidential election scheduled to be held in October this year. However, President Kaczynski on April 10 was killed in an air crash in Smolensk, Russia. So the presidential elections had to be held on June 20 ahead. After the announcement by Jaroslaw, the main political parties in Poland, which are the ruling Civic Platform party, Law and Justice Party as the largest opposition party, the Democratic Left Alliance and Peasant Party have launched their own presidential candidates. And Civic Platform's candidate for the office is the current acting Speaker Comorovschi. If no accidents happen, the next President of Poland will be between Comorovschi and Jaroslaw.
According to Polish law, in the first round of elections, if no candidate obtains a majority of votes, the two candidates with the most votes will enter the second round. If Jaroslaw is able to enter the second round of the presidential election, voters of other small parties will play a determining role in the election results of the second round. Whether Jaroslaw can turn defeat into victory again after 5 years remains to be seen.
