Australia experienced the severely cold weather this winter.

For people in many parts of Australia, the winter of 2010 was truly "cold" to die. The Australians all put on thick warm clothes and also used the heating machines throughout the night.

The New South Wales where Sydney is located suffered the coldest winter in the 12 years. In August the average temperature was 15.9 Celsius degrees during the day. More rainfalls made New Jersey wet and cold in the winter. The southern New Jersey also snowed.

It’s the same cold in the capital Canberra. The average temperature of daytime is lower than that in Sydney, which was only 12.6 Celsius degrees, sometimes as low as 2 degrees at night. Affected by the northwest wind, the coming spring rainfall would be abundant, but there still would be some days of frost.

This winter in South Australia was also severe and tough. During July, the temperatures had been 5 degrees below for 6 nights continuously in Adelaide. It became the winter whose cold nights last longest during the recent 20 years. In addition, the South Australia also suffered cold front for many times this winter with the emergence of hail.

This winter the rainfall in Victoria was rich after the drought which has lasted for 13 years. The total rainfall reached 667 mm. The abundant rainfall increased Melbourne's water storage capacity up to 41%. The recent snowfall was also large in many highland areas. And it would continue to snow until October the 3rd.
