The Nokia E72 Provides A Range Of Functions.

Released in October 2009, the Nokia E72 brings a wide range of features and a full QWERTY keyboard to the Nokia range. Nokia make use of their expertise in producing a very versatile handset.

The E72 measures 114x58x10mm and weighs in at 128g. The 2.36 inch TFT screen is capable of displaying up to 16million colours at 320x240 pixels. This ensures a vibrant display with clarity and depth of colour.  As mentioned, a full QWERTY keyboard is found on the front of the phone and makes a welcome change from the amount of touchscreen handsets currently on the market. An accelerometer is built in which senses when the phone has been tilted and automatically rotates the on screen image so it can be viewed in both portrait and landscape forms.

Users are alerted to incoming calls and messages by vibration and ringing with the option to download polyphonic ringtones and even use MP3 music files as ringtones. A speakerphone is built into the handset allowing hands free communication. A 3.5mm audio jack allows the use of hands free kits as well as headphones for listening to music.

Internal storage in the E72 is 250MB and 128MB RAM. However, by making use of the microSD slot, up to 16GB is available for storage of media files, contact info and other files. A range of connectivity options keeps users connected on the move. Class 32 versions of GPRS and EDGE are included as well as Bluetooth v2.0. This enables direct transfer of files and data between other Bluetooth compatible devices. Connection to 3G networks is via HSDPA at speeds of up to 10.2Mbps and HSUPA at up to 2Mbps. WiFi access allows users to take advantage of the many hotspots around the country for a faster connection.

The E72 is equipped with a camera boasting 5MP which operates at a pixel resolution of 2595x1944 pixels. Added features of the camera include autofocus and LED flash to ensure quality pictures in low light conditions. It can also shoot video in VGA at 15 frames per second. This feature also doubles up to be used for video calls which many will find useful. A variety of media file formats are supported by the included media player. Files can easily be transferred to and from a computer by using the microUSB (v2.0) port.

Other included features of the E72 include a digital compass, document editor, flash lite, voice command and dial and an organiser. A stereo FM radio is included with RDS and a variety of games can be downloaded. GPS with A-GPS is another useful feature found on the E72. The operating system of choice is Symbian OS 9.3, Series 60 v3.2 UI, and an ARM 11 600MHz processor handles the necessary computing required for the range of applications.
