Ten Environmental Disasters Are Threatening to Humanity

1. Destruction of soil

It is reported by reference news that the soil productivity of the cultivable area in 110 countries (total one billion people) is reducing. In Africa, Asia and Latin America, the situation of soil denudation which is caused by the loss of forest cover, land overdevelopment and over-grazing of grazing land is very severe. The bare land begins to weaken, which cannot resist the denudation by winds and rains for a long time. In some places, the average annual erosion can reach 100 tons per ha. The overuse of chemical fertilizers and pesticides, the toxic dust drifting down related to air pollution, the mud splashing everywhere and the discard of hazardous wastes, generally speaking all of these are irreversible pollutions to soil.

2. Climatic change, energy dissipation and green house effect threaten seriously entire humanity.

According to the estimates of 2500 representative specialists, the global sea level will rise, and many populous areas (like Bangladesh, the coastal regions of China and most of the islands located in Pacific Ocean and Indian Ocean) will be covered by water. The increasing temperature will cause serious effects on the agriculture and the ecosystem.

3. Reduction of diversity of organism

Because of the urbanization, agricultural development, reduction in forest area and environmental pollution, the natural regions are getting smaller and smaller, which will lead to the extinctions of thousands of species.

4. Reduction in forest area

In recent decades, the situations of reduction in forest area in tropical countries are very serious. From 1980 to 1990, there are 1.5 hundred million hectares of forests have disappeared.

5. Fresh water resource is threatening

According to expert estimates, from the beginning of the next century, one quarter of our earth will be lack of water for a long time. And please remember! We cannot create water, so we just can try to protect water.

6. Chemical pollution

Millions of chemical compounds caused by the industry exist in the air, the soil, the water, the plant, the animal and the human body. Even as the last final large-scale natural ecosystem, the ice cover is polluted too. Those organic compounds, heavy metals and toxic products which all exist in the entire food chain will finally threaten safety of human beings, animals and plants, cause cancer and lead to soil fertility decreased.

7. The disordered urbanization

The number big cities in the world will be up to 21 by the end of the century. The living condition in big cities will become worse.

8. The seas and oceans have been overdeveloped, and seaboards polluted

9. Air pollution
