Drumlin Farm

Drumlin Farm Wildlife Sanctuary in Lincoln, MA is a fully operating farm, open to the public through Mass Audubon. Drumlin is open year-round, call or check online for seasonal hours. If you live in Metro West and have children, I recommend joining. Annual membership is inexpensive, and with a few visits, quickly pays for itself.

My daughter loves Drumlin Farm. There is so much to do. Her favorite is visiting the animal barns- sheep, goats, pigs, cows, chickens, and a pony. There are usually plenty of opportunity to pet the animals if you wish, but please do not feed the animals. If you visit the animal barns in the early spring, you might be able to watch the birth of a new addition to the farm. Hayrides around the farm leave from the Red Barn seasonally so bring some cash for a fun ride around with your family.

After checking out the animal barns, don't forget to visit the Native Wildlife on Bird Hill and Drumlin Underground. Here you will find some of New England's wild animals- skunk, rabbit, owls, hawks, deer, and fox. The wildlife found their way to Drumlin through injury, and are in captivity so they can survive.

There are many trails at Drumlin where you can enjoy wooded scenery, fields, or even hike up to the highest point in Greater Boston Area to enjoy a view of Mt. Wachusett and Mt. Monadnock if the skies are clear.

Children can enjoy Farm and Nature programs, Discover Drumlin Activities or the Learning Garden all great ways to learn about agriculture and nature in Massachusetts.

Don't forget to check out the farm stand and Audubon Shop on your way out for seasonally grown produce from the farm and great gifts.
