Good Idea Gone Badddddddd!
In the beginning lot of ideas have good intentions, but something eventually goes terribly wrong, if you look at history this has come to fact.
You take the Manteca S.H.A.R.P.S. for example originally this seemed like a great idea senior citizens wanting to take back their so called turf from this small community and restore all that made this city of Manteca so attractive to people from all walks of life. Great idea right?
But then want to be Police Officers go a little to far and cross that line and believe they are above the law or they are the law and they forgot why they started this endeavor to start with.
I have seen these people give tickets to people that have parked in handicapped zones which I am not opposed to by the way as I have a handicapped son and when this happens it is very discouraging but then to see them let another go just because she or he was cute or nice or whatever. (seen this first hand) .
Seen them pull down lost dog posters 15 minutes after a little girl put it up on a pole and tried to intervene and told it was unlawful.
As discouraging as this is I have to air out my frustrations about another such group as in the people that run the Homeowners association in Parkwest in a little town called Manteca California.
See my Parents were one of the first to buy a home in Parkwest some 30 years plus ago and thought this was great a homeowners association with rules and regulations to keep the neighborhood safe and clean for years to come outside the city and government help.
Well now my parents are in their twilight years and their kids are long gone and have kids and grand kids of their own and a few people have tried to take a good extreme to the next degree.
They have harassed and threatened and fined many of family's that live in Parkwest to the point of ridiculous levels.
How would you like to be told that you have to submit your intentions to paint your house and they have the right to approve or disapprove the color or nature or anything else about it?
On one hand I could see the point as no one wants to live next to a purple house with pokadots but there has to be some kind of order here.
O.K. here are some examples of the extreme this has gone to.
-
Must have approval of curtains hung inside house!
Must not have brown marks in lawn
Must not have weeds showing in cracks of sidewalks or driveway
Must have dual pane window
These are a sample of just a few things these people are doing they go around and take pictures and send threatening letters to these people and and levy fines.
A lot of these folks are on limited income and ability to keep up with the Jones and believe me these homes are not even close to non maintained as they will portray heck I have seen their homes as well and want to say hey you have a three inch crack in your sidewalk that I almost tripped over when I walked up to your door to sell girl scout cookies!
That's how ridiculous it has gotten and believe me it is a lot worse than that but I am trying to keep this to an informative posting instead of a book.
In closing I have a parting thought to these people, while you our off to work or play who's watching your house? That's right the busy body ole senior citizen across the street.
Maybe when it's your house they don' make that call think about it.
Concern for our seniors,
Michael
